Tours and Cruises

Here are a few of our favorites:

M.S. Dixie II Paddlewheeler and Tahoe Queen

These cruises are operated by Zephyr Cove Resort & Marina.  The M.S. Dixie II has been voted "Best Boat Cruise" at Tahoe for many years, and hosts scenic dinner/dance and sightseeing cruises. Phone: (530) 543-6191

Tallac Historic Site

Former site of the 100-year-old Tallac Resort. In its glory days, the resort included two large hotels, a casino, and numerous other buildings. Today, the site is home to Valhalla community events center and its annual Valhalla Festival of Arts and Music.  This is a great place to explore during the summer months, especially on a weekend when the resort is hosting one of its many festivals.

Vikingsholm Castle

Considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in North America, Vikingsholm castle sits on the shore of Emerald Bay with astonishing views of Lake Tahoe. It was built in 1929 by Lora J. Knight, a wealthy Chicago widow who purchased this shoreline site and built a replica of a Norse fortress from 800 A.D.  You can access this site via boat or by a moderate hike down from Highway 50 above Emerald Bay.

Heavenly Gondola

This is an adventurous way to see the entire Tahoe Basin all year round.  Take the Heavenly Gondola from the heart of South Lake Tahoe 2.4 miles up the mountainside, and be rewarded with amazing views and plenty of hiking and skiing depending on the season.

Lake Tahoe Balloons

Hot Air Balloon Adventures over Lake Tahoe operates approximately May thru October. Sunrise flights are offered seven days a week, weather permitting. Reservations are required. Escape the confines of gravity and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience!

Borges Family Sleigh and Carriage Rides (Winter and Summer)

Sleigh rides in winter months and carriage rides in the summer.  A great way to explore the Tahoe Basin and relax in the splendor of the mountains.
